 Uber: David or Goliath

Join USC Marshall Partners and guests in downtown San Francisco for an insider's perspective on running a company that is disrupting the way we move around cities, as well as much more. Gautam Gupta, Uber's VP of Finance, will discuss pressing issues as Uber faces growing regulation, the launch of self-driving cars, cultural biases, and the scaling up of a global upstart.

Rounding out the panel and joining Mr. Gupta will be two Uber leaders with diverse perspectives and roles across Uber. The comprehensive panel will provide a unique view into this dynamic, homegrown San Francisco start-up that is now the highest valued private company in the world.

The evening will include a pre-event reception and a Q&A following the discussion.

Marshall Partners Parent Program is pleased to invite you to a reception with the David C. Bohnett Professor of Social Entrepreneurship Adlai Wertman from Marshall's Brittingham Social Enterprise Lab (BSEL).

With a background including Wall Street and non-profit management, Professor Wertman inspires the next generation of leaders to tackle the world's wicked problems. Never one to shy away from a challenge, Professor Wertman, and the BSEL provide mentoring and career counseling for students who are serious about using their business degree to affect social change.

Don't miss this opportunity to meet one of Marshall's most revered and influential professors at a reception at the home of Marshall parents, David and Negar '94 Soufer. Professor Wertman will share his insights about millennials and their passion for changing the world.

 Idea Lab has spawned over 150 companies and accounted for 50 IPOs over the last 20 years. It is L.A.'s original start-up incubator and one of the most influential incubators in the world. Inside Entrepreneurship

Gideon Yu joined Marshall Partners for an inside conversation about Silicon Valley, innovation and his experience.  As CFO of YouTube, Gideon Yu managed the $1.65 billion dollar sale to Google amidst a competitive auction for the company. He became Mark Zuckerberg’s close confidant and CFO at  Facebook and prior to that, he was the SVP of Finance at Yahoo, responsible for executing over 30 acquisitions including major stakeholders in Alibaba, Overture, Flickr and Inktomi among others. In addition to his stellar performance in the tech sector, Gideon is the co-owner of the San Francisco 49ers and in 2012, became the first President of color in the history of the NFL.  

 

Dinner with Dean Ellis & Pat Haden 

The USC Marshall Partners in the Bay Area celebrated the Stanford Weekender with a truly special Signature Event at the home of Elizabeth & Warren Jenson. The dinner featured Dean Jim Ellis and former USC Athletic Director, Pat Haden, and raised over $75,000 to support the Dean's Strategic Fund.

Marshall Partners OC Duffy Scavenger Hunt

USC Marshall Partners gathered on the Newport Harbor for a one of a kind Duffy Scavenger Hunt & Reception. Fun was had by all and the winning, team captained by Jonathan Michaels, took home a wonderful prize.

Exclusive Behind The Scenes Tour of JPL

Members attended a private presentation and behind-the-scenes tour of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena. This tour featured a space flight operations, the Earth Science Center, and the Test Center. After our tour, Director of JPL and USC Marshall Alum, Dr. Charles Elachi, gave an introduction and overview of the recent and upcoming projects at JPL.
